Selected regional camps open in Term 4 2020

The Victorian Government has recently announced that rural and regional schools are able to attend school camps again from Monday 5 October. This is permissible to schools in regional Victoria who are returning to face-to-face learning in Term 4.

As a result, YMCA Victoria has opened bookings for selected regional camps in Term 4. Under current restrictions, school camps are not bound by public gathering limits.

The selected regional camps open in Term 4 include:

Community groups based in regional areas are also able to book at these camps from Monday 5 October. However, these bookings are bound by current group size limitations.

We welcome the opportunity to provide a memorable and safe camp experience for regional groups during Term 4.

If your group is interested in attending, our teams are onsite and available to discuss potential booking options.

Contact details and enquiry forms are listed below.

Closed camps

As you will be aware, metropolitan Melbourne is still experiencing heavy restrictions on its own roadmap to reopening. Only limited year levels are expected to attend face-to-face learning during Term 4 and strict public gathering limits still apply for community groups.

As a result, our camps within metropolitan Melbourne will remain closed until further notice. We continue to monitor the situation closely and plan to reopen as soon as restrictions allow. Please note: school and community groups based in metropolitan Melbourne cannot access our regional camps during Term 4.

Our metropolitan camps include:

Our closed camps can still be contacted during this period to discuss potential future booking options. Our camps contact details and enquiry forms are listed below.

Phillip Island Coastal Discovery Camp

Phillip Island Coastal Discovery Camp is currently preparing for a major redevelopment. The new facility will include a range of modern accommodation and accessible features. We intend to provide inclusive access to this unique coastal area for groups and people of all abilities.

In the interim, the existing facility is not offering accommodation services and community programs at its standard capacity.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest for private small group bookings.

Each booking will be negotiated and accepted on a case by case basis.

To submit an expression of interest, please complete the Phillip Island enquiry form.

COVID safety

We understand school and community groups may have heightened concerns about the safety of attending camp during the coronavirus (COVID-19) period.

Please be assured the health, safety and wellbeing of guests and staff remains our number one priority as we start to reopen our camps.

We are taking every precaution recommended by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and are continually reviewing our own health and safety procedures to ensure they meet current guidelines.

Our regional managers will be developing COVID safety plans specific to the needs of each school and community group who attend during Term 4 2020.

We will take this approach forward into future terms as Victoria continues its journey towards COVID normal.
