Accommodation
The main accommodation facility is an L shaped building. The main bathroom facilities are in the corner of the L and there are 6 single use bathrooms along the passageways.
Bedrooms were refurbished in 2004. Two bed rooms contain a single bunk, four bed rooms contain 2 bunks, five bed rooms contain 2 bunks and a single bed & six bed rooms contain 2 bunks and 2 single beds. We supply blankets and pillows for each bed. Linen can be hired by arrangement.
Each room has: shelved storage space, hanging room, mirror, powerpoints and heating. All rooms are carpeted and pine lined.
The 2 main bathroom facilities are in the corner of the L shaped accommodation block. Each have 8 showers (plenty of hot water), toilet facilities, hand basins with large mirrors and changing space. Bathrooms have dehumidifiers as well as heating.
Six single use bathrooms contain shower, toilet, basin and mirror. Two of these are disabled bathrooms.
We have four rooms designed for wheelchair access. They have wider doors and greater space between beds.
In the accommodation block there are two disabled bathrooms facilities with shower/toilet. Adjacent to the games room there is a futher two disabled toilets.
There is disabled access to accommodation, dining, lounge and games rooms.
Each wing has a large drying room. We have installed 2 dehumidifiers in each. The dehumidifiers remove moisture which allows clothes/boots to dry efficiently. Shelving and hanging space compliments these.
The laundry is located in A wing. It has 2 washing machines and a laundry trough. Howmans Gap supplies washing powder and the use of the machines is free.
Howmans Gap Alpine Centre also offers 2 separate self contained houses available to rent.
Accommodation - Self Contained Houses - MELALEUCA COTTAGE (Available Year Round)
Melaleuca Cottage at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre is a 3 bedroom self contained cottage which sleeps 8 people, set amongst the Tea Trees (Melaleuca) in a secluded private garden.
It is the first house on the right as you come down the road into Howmans Gap.
The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room of the cottage is an ideal social area. The wood fire in the corner adds atmosphere and complements the electric heating in each room. The lounge has a television and video recorder, guests need to supply their own videos. The TV only works with the video, there is NO reception.
The kitchen has all the basic essentials - fridge, gas oven and hot plate, microwave, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment.
Melaleuca Cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps 8 people. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, the second room has a bunk bed and the third has 2 bunk beds. Each room has wall mounted heaters. Please supply your own bedding.
There is a washing machine in the laundry and a shower and bath in the bathroom. Guests need to bring their own towels and toiletries.
The carport provides undercover parking for one car and additional cars need to park in the drive way to the cottage or up in the main carpark.
Accommodation - Self Contained Houses - CEDAR HOUSE (Not Available During Winter)
Cedar House at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre is a 4 bedroom self contained house which sleeps 8 people.
It is situated just below the main car park - drive in the front gate of Howmans Gap and take the road to your left at the 'Y' junction. Drive through to the car park and the first house on your right (down a flight of stairs) is Cedar House.
Cedar House has beds to sleep 8 people, but there are a few extra mattresses suitable for children if needed. There is one room with a queen size bed and the other three rooms have a bunk. Each room has a wall mounted heater. Please supply your own bedding.
The laundry has a washing machine and clothes dryer.
Separate rooms for: shower, hand basin and toilet.Guests need to bring their own towels and toiletries.
